A New Year has Begun!

Well like all things the New Year is starting out as a mixed bag. I need a new transmission in my car -but I am busy with beads orders- & I am excited about a few special projects I am working on. Now if I only had the energy to finish taking down my Christmas tree & put away all the ornaments I might actually feel like I've accomplished something.
The problem with putting away all the Holiday items is there is just so little to celebrate in Michigan in the gray months of winter. I have already decided I am having a Chinese New Year Party in February to break up the winter doldrums. It is going to be the year of the rat. Since we seem to be blessed with rats in the hood & more specifically in my studio- (Most recently Ollie the Christmas Rat) yet another rat story for another time- I think Its only fitting that I should acknowledge the beasts.

This is a brief over view of my work from the last year:
When I am working it seems like ideas just sort of sprout organically. I don't always think about what I am doing - almost like breathing.
But seeing my work together I find there are recurrent themes. A personal mythology keeps popping up. Themes connected to nature and dreams and the energy of the earth.

They were also featured in the July 07 issue of Beadwork magazine as one of the "Editors' Top Picks"



The largest ones are about 3" long and the smaller ones are about 2" long. They all feature assorted fresh water pearls.

New Pendants As Seen In SIMPLY BEADS Oct 07

Well finally they are here!
I had to fight with my camera & my computer to get them uploaded. I was ready to pull my hair out, but my DH husband figured out what the glitch was & here we are.

They are $25 each & available on a first come basis.
The one in the first picture, first row with the heart dangle is no longer available.
Also gone is the one in the second picture, bottom row middle with the long dangle.
The largest one is 2'' long (not including the silver dangle) & the smallest one is 1 1/2'' long. They are all about 1 1/4'' wide.
They are made of ceramic stoneware with fresh water pearls and Hill Tribe silver.

where I've been...

I haven't blogged in a long time, months to be exact. It turns out it was not only the long Michigan winter that was making me feel so bad, but it was also extreme anemia. I ended up in the emergency room a few weeks ago & i have been reconsidering my life ever since.
I need to plug back in to my muse & learn not to do so much. I have tried to please everybody but my self & my muse & we have both suffered for it.
What do I really want to do with myself? that's a good question. I am still pondering.
I'll let you know just as soon as I figure it out.

Yes, I do believe Spring is finally here!
In celebration here is my newest bead:
"POSSUM MAMA"
She is carrying her new spring babes on a little adventure.
She can be strung either right side up or upside down since possums are tricky that way!
