The "V" Word

I  just had to do it.  I had to. In Michigan, my home state, women lawmakers were told they could not speak in the Michigan House floor  because one  of them, Lisa Brown,  said the word "VAGINA" in a discussion of a proposed law on women's healthcare.

Yes, Lady lawmakers can't mention lady parts when discussing laws about Ladies Biznis!

Of course there was an immediate backlash and everyone saw this for what it really was, a ridiculous attempt to silence women in a debate about women's health, because the men are in charge of it. They men want to control it and keep women out of the discussion.

So I had to add another word bead to my repertoire.  VAGINA!  VAGINA!  VAGINA!   VAGINA!

There I said it and you can't make me shut up!

If you would like to read more about this absurdity there is a very good article  HERE by Lisa Brown herself, along with video of the event.

Or You can watch this Funny or Die  Video that says it all!

  1. I am stunned. I am also very frightened for the way that this world is going when a correct term for female anatomy causes women to be silenced. WTF???? If that is not a war on women than I don't know what is. This enrages me, Diane, and I am glad that you are doing what you do to speak out. Enjoy the day. Erin

  4. Listen if you don't have one of your own, you at least came out of one. I really can't begin to understand what the bleep is going on in the US when it comes to Womens health. I find I'm almost not even surprised at the level of utter stupidity here.

But I like your stand :)

  5. You've tickled me with this. I agree that it's ridiculous that the word Vagina is deemed inappropriate. It's basic anatomy. Gahhhh. . .
Thank you for speaking out in your own way!!

  6. Awesome post Diane - I absolutely love your beads! I am utterly shocked about this situation. Absolute insanity. What century do they think we are living in?!

  7. Is it wrong for me to say that I love your "vagina"? Maybe those of us in control of the vaginas should close up shop until the vagina is respected more? Awesome bead! Sad state of affairs!
